Target: Gina McCarthy, Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Goal: Applaud the EPA’s move to impose stricter limits on smog pollution that is damaging the ozone and threatening public health.

Thanks in part to petitions like ForceChange’s Tell Obama Not to Allow the EPA to Slide Backwards on Ozone Regulation, the EPA has established stricter limits on the smog-causing pollution linked to asthma and respiratory illness and destroying the ozone.

The EPA lowered the limit from 75 to 70 parts per billion, saying this new standard will reduce exposure to dangerous ozone pollution. It says this will also reduce asthma attacks, emergency room visits and hundreds of premature deaths linked to this pollution each year.

Republicans have been fighting standards such at this, claiming it will hurt the economy. The move is part of the Obama Administration’s plan to leave office having took action on policies aimed at climate change.

Applaud this move towards protecting public health and our world.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mrs. McCarthy,

I’m writing to thank you for imposing stricter limits on dangerous smog pollution that is not only damaging our ozone, but also causing asthma attacks, emergency room visits and hundreds of premature deaths each year.

Increasingly we are seeing evidence that something must be done to reduce pollution and the dangerous effects it’s having on our environment. It’s vital that we continue to take action before it’s too late. The fact that this pollution is threat to public health and causing premature deaths is terrifying.

I applaud you for taking a stand to protect public health and the earth.

Sincerely,
