Target: Galveston County, Texas Criminal District Attorney Jack Roady
Goal: Help ensure appropriate punishment for teen who allegedly murdered his pregnant mother.
A 14-year-old teenager is being charged with murder after he confessed to stabbing and strangling his pregnant mother over 20 times. The victim was about five months pregnant and had two other children.
According to child welfare authorities, the family seems to have had a terrible home life filled with domestic abuse between the mother and her partner, as well as substance abuse.
Investigators say he confessed, but his father has defended and made excuses for his son’s heinous crime, saying he was a good kid who was dealt a bad hand of cards.
A teenager who can attack their pregnant mother, strangle, and stab her over 20 times isn’t a “good kid” and there’s no excuse for murder. A person like this has a dangerous amount of rage that puts the rest of society at risk.
The teen could be tried as a juvenile and it’s possible he could only serve a minimal sentence and be set free to endanger others again. This is a young man who murdered his mother and her unborn child in a gruesome way, so who’s to believe his other family members — his younger siblings, for instance — are safe around him? This is why we urge the district attorney to help ensure this young man receives the appropriate punishment and treatment for his obvious anger problem before he has the chance to hurt anyone else.
Dear District Attorney Jack Roady,
A 14-year-old reportedly confessed to causing the death of his pregnant mother who was strangled and stabbed over 20 times. This young man chose to go into a rage and murder his mother and unborn sibling with his own hands.
This killer could end up on the streets, free to harm again. That’s why we ask that you help make sure he receives the most extensive punishment possible, including treatment for his anger problems.
