Justice for Hundreds of Animals Found Dead or Near Death

Target: Judge Robert Reed

Goal: Enforce harsher punishments for horrific animal abuse cases like that of the “carpet of bones” abusers.

Over 200 animals were rescued by what respondents called one of the worst cases of neglect they had ever seen. Chad Lloyd and Kimberly Brown of New Jersey owned two properties that were covered in a “carpet of crushing bones.” The piles of dead bodies were not only outside, but inside the house as well. One of the respondents claimed that “you couldn’t walk 10 or 15 feet without finding a part of a dead animal.” Most of the dead bodies belonged to baby animals.

Living animals were found on both locations as well, however they were in terrible condition. Most were dehydrated, starving or riddled with infections like E. coli. Many were unable to walk, so rescuers had to carry them. Respondents rescued pigs, cows, goats, chickens, pheasants, ducks, hamsters, chinchillas, geese, turkeys and many other species. When officers asked Lloyd why he didn’t dispose of any of the bodies, he blamed it on laziness.

The animals were not the only ones subjected to this filth and neglect. Two children, ages three and 10, were found living on the property. Living among the decaying bodies exposed these children to many health risks and taught them at a young age that it is okay to treat animals in such a way.

The couple’s punishment for these crimes is a $4,000 fine, 30 days of community service, and a lifetime ban of owning animals. This is merely a slap on the wrist. They should be required to give more of their time back to the community which will also give them more time to think about the horrors they brought upon countless animals and to the two children.

By signing this petition, you are asking Judge Robert Reed to reconsider his sentencing and give future abusers who come before him more time to think about their actions and require them to give back to the community.

Dear Judge Robert Reed,

Recently, a case came across your desk regarding a couple responsible for the deaths of over 75 animals and severely neglecting another 200. The 200 animals that were saved were on the brink of death from either starvation or dehydration and many were ridden with infections like mange and E. coli. Rescuers described the two locations as having a “carpet of crushing bones” and being one of the worst cases of neglect they have ever seen.

The couple responsible, Chad Lloyd and Kimberly Brown, also let two children live among this graveyard. These children were eating, sleeping and playing next to bodies in various stages of decay. For many, it is difficult to imagine what life was like in these barns.

You sentenced the couple to 30 days of community service, a $4,000 fine and a lifetime ban of owning animals. This is merely a slap on the wrist for crimes that resulted in many deaths. Lloyd and Brown need much more than a month to think about the results of their actions and to give back to the community that they so deeply scarred.

I am urging you to truly think about the misery Lloyd and Brown brought upon so many living beings. Let the punishment fit the crime and punish future animal abusers who come before you more severely.

  1. These people should be forces to live there without water or food untill they are dead the same goes for their kids who apparently did nothing to stop it (unless they did but it was not mentioned here)

    • Diane Shepherd says:

Get a grip on reality…the children are 3 and 10…they are victims as well.

      • Thank you for your comment. I was appalled by most others. What kind of person would blame a child for their parents behavior and as well condemn them for their future. They very well may grow up very responsible and kind adults!!!!!

  2. Put them in jail and throw away the key!

  3. Just kill these ppl and throw their bodies in a landfill.

  4. Cecily Colloby says:

Just hang these evil bastards and be done with….
