Target: Dallas, Texas Interim Superintendent Michael Hinojosa
Goal: Reprimand school administrator accused of suspending student for wearing an American flag t-shirt.
A high school student was reportedly punished for wearing a t-shirt with the American flag printed on it. The student’s mother says the t-shirt was worn underneath a pullover jacket and wasn’t visible until a school administrator asked him to lift his jacket and upon seeing the t-shirt, gave him in-school suspension. The administrator had no business making him lift his pullover in the first place.
The mother says any bad mark on his record could prevent him from achieving his goal to join the military. It’s a shame that an American school has a problem with students showing their patriotism and wearing the American flag, especially underneath a jacket.
The principal reportedly apologized to the boy over the phone, and said the administrator made a mistake, but it’s a shame that the administrator hasn’t faced repercussions. Please urge the superintendent to ensure the administrator responsible for this mistake faces repercussions.
Dear Dallas, Texas Interim Superintendent Michael Hinojosa,
A student was reportedly punished for having an American flag t-shirt on underneath his jacket. The principal claims to have apologized to the student and said the issue was a dress code misunderstanding. However, the administrator who punished the student over the under-shirt wasn’t reprimanded for this terrible mistake that could’ve cost the boy his dream to join the military.
Please see to it that the administrator who was obviously offended over the American flag shirt is reprimanded for making the student lift his jacket and for giving him in-school-suspension over his patriotism.
