Target: Michael Hestrin, District Attorney of Riverside County, California
Goal: Give man harsh legal penalty for breaking into animal shelter and causing four dogs to die if found guilty.
Four dogs died because a man allegedly broke into an animal shelter. Activists need to take action to better ensure this man is put in prison if he is found guilty so that no other animals will have to die as a result of his actions.
Twenty-two dogs were missing from their kennels. Blood was also found on the walls and it was further reported that two small dogs were found dead inside the facility. Two more dogs were said to have been hit by cars after running out of the shelter during the break-in.
Jason Ernest Johnson was arrested for the crime, as well as for vandalism and animal cruelty. He had further been on probation because he had been arrested in relation to drug charges. Johnson’s criminal record suggests that he will likely soon commit even more crimes if he does not serve time for his actions. Furthermore, statistics show that many people who commit crimes against animals eventually go on to commit crimes against people.
Sign this petition and demand that Johnson serve time in prison if he is found guilty of this thoughtless crime. Animals and people would likely be much safer as a result.
Dear Attorney Hestrin,
Four dogs died as a result of the recent Jurupa Valley Animal Shelter break-in. The individual responsible must serve time in prison so that other animals will not have to suffer because of the guilty person’s cruel actions.
As a result of this thoughtless crime, 22 dogs are now missing. Even more senseless is the fact that two dogs were found dead in the facility with blood stained splatters on the wall. Reportedly, two other dogs that ran out of the shelter during the break-in were hit and killed by cars as they were trying to run across the street. In addition to all of this, the man arrested for this crime had been on probation due to drug charges.
For all of these reasons, I urge you to suggest that this man be given a harsh prison sentence if he is found guilty of this horrible crime. It is likely that both people and animals will be a lot safer if this man is not around to commit any more of these senseless acts.
