Target: Head teacher Dale Barrowclough of Forge Valley School
Goal: Stop allegedly preventing student from going to school because of her haircut.
A 13-year-old student in Sheffield, England was allegedly sent home on the first day of school because of her haircut, which is partially shaved on one side and the shaved area is dyed to resemble leopard print. There’s nothing obscene about her hair, yet the school’s head teacher reportedly thought it was such a problem that she shouldn’t even be allowed to attend. The student’s mother has spoken out to say this violates her daughter’s human rights, and she’s correct.
Since the teen’s choice of hairstyle isn’t harming anyone, it’s senseless that the school would hinder her education simply because her hair is different. Why should a child be denied an education based on their appearance? This is discrimination and it must be stopped. Please demand the school stop hindering students’ education based on the personal opinion of their appearance.
Dear Dale Barrowclough,
A student was reportedly sent home because of her haircut. It’s disappointing that a head teacher would hinder a child’s education over his or her appearance. The Forge Valley School’s website states that students are seen as individuals, but this appears to be false as it seems you don’t actually allow students to be individuals and express their individuality.
This child’s education shouldn’t be hindered based on personal opinion of her appearance. Please stop this alleged discriminatory behavior from standing in the way of the student’s education and allow her to continue attending Forge Valley School.
