Justice for American Artist Beaten to Death in Nepal

Target: Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Narahari Acharya

Goal: Prosecute and charge the admitted murderer of 25-year-old American Dahlia Yehia.

A woman was viciously beaten to death and dumped in a river during a trip to help the Nepalese people rebuild their country. Dahlia was a 25-year-old artist who decided to go backpacking in Nepal after the devastating earthquake in April of this year hoping to help in the disaster support and cleanup.

When she stopped posting on the social media she updated regularly, her family became worried and started a search effort. Last week, the family finally received the devastating news that Dahlia was dead. A man that Dahlia had been staying with temporarily on her way through Nepal, whom she met through the traveler’s housing website CouchSurfing.com, admitted to beating her to death and throwing her body in a river.

No motive has been found yet. After being arrested, suspect Narayan Paudel attempted suicide by jumping out of a police station window. This man is obviously a danger to himself and others, and he needs to be closely monitored in order to ensure his appearance and presence at trial. Tell Napal’s Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs to ensure that this man is processed, tried, and prosecuted as soon as law will allow it to ensure the peace of Dahlia Yehia’s family, as well as every other traveler in the country of Nepal.

Dear Minister Acharya,

Nepal heavily relies on its tourism industry, one that has taken a hard blow due to the damage caused by April’s devastating earthquake. Your citizens are well known by travelers to be very friendly and welcoming, but sadly a recent event has put a damper on this reputation. Dahlia Yehia, a young artist who was backpacking across the country to assist in disaster relief, was beaten to death and dumped into a nearby river by a man she had trusted to house her overnight through a traveler’s housing site.

The suspect, Narayan Paudel, was taken into custody last Friday and attempted to commit suicide by jumping from a police station window. Police are still not even aware of the location of Dahlia’s remains, and it is clear that Paudel is a danger to himself and allegedly others. Every effort needs to be made to guarantee this suspect stays alive and in custody long enough to be tried and convicted. Please do everything in your power to secure this suspect and process him as soon as possible.
