Target: David Cameron, Prime Minister of Britain
Goal: Applaud allowing thousands of Syrian refugees to seek protection in the UK and escape the violence and corruption in their country.
Thanks in part to petitions like ForceChange’s Address the Refugee Crisis in Europe, thousands of Syrian refugees will be allowed to seek asylum in the UK, Prime Minister David Cameron announced recently. Part of the plan to allow the refugees in includes flying refugees from camps in countries bordering Syria to Britain.
This announcement comes shortly after the refugee situation was declared an international humanitarian issue, with tragedies such as 700 refugees drowning after a boat capsized off the coast of Libya and 71 refugees suffocating to death in a trailer driving through Austria. The most recent shock included the drowning of a 3-year-old refugee who was found on a beach.
Cameron also said that Britain will work on a long-term solution to the crisis, including bringing an end to the bloody conflicts in Syria that are causing so many to flee. This announcement is a huge step towards preventing further tragedies and helping to aid the refugees who are simply seeking a safe life away from the violence in their own country.
Applaud this decision that extends love and assistance to humanity and hope that more countries will follow.
Dear Prime Minister Cameron,
I’m so glad to hear of your recent announcement the Britain will allow thousands of Syrian refugees to seek asylum in the UK in part by flying refugees from camps to your country, and also planning for a long-term solution to the crisis by bringing an end to the bloody conflicts in Syria that are causing so many to flee and seek asylum.
After so many tragedies linked to this crisis, countries that are able to help out these refugees should definitely step up and do so. Britain is setting a positive example by showing a heart and assisting those that aren’t so fortunate to live in a normal country not overrun with violence. I applaud your decision to extend love and assistance to your fellow humans and I hope that more countries will follow.
