Punish Officer Who Allegedly Left Dog in Truck to Die

Beagle_puppy_portrait

Target: Judge Joyette M. Holmes, Cobb County Chief Magistrate

Goal: Give man maximum sentence and do not allow him to work with animals in the future if found guilty of allowing dog to suffocate in truck.

A dog died after reportedly being left inside a hot truck all day by an animal control officer. If the person who did this is not punished to the fullest extent of the law, many more animals may suffer and die while in the care of this callous individual.

Matthew Cory Dodson, the animal control officer that picked up the dog, allegedly falsified shelter documents by saying that when he found the dog it was already dead. According to sources, he claimed that the dog had been run over by a car. However, once the dog’s owner was told what happened, she was highly suspicious of the animal control officer’s story. It was not until after much coaxing by shelter officials that the man apparently admitted to throwing the dog inside his truck and disregarding it for the rest of his work day.

Sign this petition and demand Dodson be given the maximum penalty and that he further never be allowed to work in the animal industry again if he is found guilty of having committed this inhumane act of animal abuse. Animals deserve better than to be neglected or harmed by the people who are hired to ensure their safety.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Judge Holmes,

An animal control officer has recently been accused of killing a dog by leaving it in his truck. If the man is found guilty of this horrible crime, it is important that he be given the maximum sentence so that other animals do not have to suffer at the hands of his abuse.

The officer is not only accused of leaving the dog in his truck for an entire day, but he is also accused of lying to both the dog’s owner and shelter officials about how the dog died—He reportedly falsified documents by saying the dog was run over by a car.

Although Dodson resigned from his position as an animal control officer, there is nothing to stop him from working with animals in the future. Furthermore, a family that did everything in their power to find their lost dog is now heart broken, as they know they will never see their longtime friend again.

It is for these reasons that I encourage you to give the maximum sentence to Matthew Cory Dodson and that I further encourage you to forbid him from working with animals in the future if he is found guilty of this disgusting crime. Animals should not be harmed or neglected by the primary people who are supposed to be concerned with their welfare.

Sincerely,
