Target: Mark Herring, Virginia Attorney General
Goal: Severely punish the man who shot and killed a news reporter and cameraman during a live broadcast.
Two journalists, reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward, were shot and killed while conducting a live interview. Vicki Gardner, the head of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce, was shot in the back and is currently being treated.
The entire tragedy was caught on tape, so authorities are now working to capture the suspect. Governor Terry McAuliffe said the suspect may be a disgruntled former employee of the news station.
Parker was in a serious relationship with the station’s six o’clock news anchor, Chris Hurst. He said the two were very much in love and had just moved in together. Parker had just celebrated her 24th birthday.
The shooting comes at a time when gun violence feels like an every week occurrence in the U.S. Urge officials to punish the criminal who committed this heinous act under the full extent of the law when he is caught.
Dear Attorney General Mark Herring,
As you know, two people, Alison Parker and Adam Ward, were shot and killed during a live news broadcast. Thankfully the entire thing was caught on camera so police are currently after the suspect. It’s extremely saddening that the families and loved ones of these victims had to get the call that Parker and Ward were murdered while simply doing their job.
Shootings like this are becoming all too common in the U.S. I urge you to punish the criminal who committed this heinous act under the full extent of the law when he is caught and send a clear message that gun violence will not be tolerated.
