Target: Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller
Goal: Fire staffer who advocated the genocide of 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide.
America needs to “make peace” with the Muslim world by launching nuclear strikes against it, according to Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller’s official campaign. This kind of genocidal rhetoric cannot be allowed in our modern political climate. Demand that Commissioner Miller find out who on his staff called for this violence and fire them without delay.
The United States recently celebrated the the 60th anniversary of two entirely unnecessary atomic strikes against the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that killed hundreds of thousands of civilians. Miller’s campaign staff decided to commemorate the occasion with a healthy dose of revisionist history, Islamophobia, and genocide-mongering on his campaign Facebook page.
Framed against a picture of a nuclear mushroom cloud, the comment Miller’s staff shared read “Japan has been at peace with the US since August 9, 1945. It’s time we made peace with the Muslim world.” Of course, the suggestion is that the United States must launch nuclear strikes against Muslim populations worldwide, leading to the deaths of more than 1.6 billion people globally.
Miller is saying that it was not him personally who shared the inflammatory post, but one of his numerous campaign staffers. Still, he is standing firm and refuses to either apologize for it or investigate and find out which one of them was responsible and hold them accountable.
Advocating global genocide should not be acceptable political discourse in our country. Miller needs to realize this and act accordingly. Sign the petition below to demand that Commissioner Miller find out who posted this disgusting commentary and fire them without delay.
Dear Commissioner Miller,
I am writing you today regarding the post that was recently put up on your Facebook campaign account advocating nuclear strikes against Muslim populations around the world. To be frank, you need to rein in your campaign staff.
This kind of rhetoric is regrettably commonplace from Republicans these days, so I am giving you the benefit of the doubt when you say that it was not you who personally posted this deplorable commentary. Still, that does not absolve you of responsibility. They are your staff and you need to hold them accountable.
It should go without saying that supporting the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians for nothing more than political posturing against the Russians is wrong. It should also go without saying that advocating the genocide of 1.6 billion of the world’s people because they are Muslim is wrong.
The fact that you are okay having staffers on your payroll who advocate these kinds of things is disgusting. You need to hold yourself to a higher standard. I demand that you find out who posted this violent commentary on your page and fire them from your staff without delay.
