Praise NBA Star’s Philanthropic Gesture

Target: Mr. Lebron James, National Basketball Association Star

Goal: Praise basketball player for giving hundreds of kids a free college education.

It’s not often that those with large sums of money do something really worthwhile with it, but Lebron James of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers has decided to do just that. Mr. James is going to be giving hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars to students who wish to attend the University of Akron and he is doing so from his own fortune. This is a wonderful gesture to make and it will have a great impact on the future.

There is something of a student loan debt crisis growing in the United States. The average student leaves school with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of debt that they very little hope of ever getting paid off. This happens because universities sell prospective students the dream of higher education and the opportunities it will afford them, while at the same time forcing them to hand over a blank check that they will have to make good on in the future. The problem is that 18 year old kids trying to decide what they want to do with their lives aren’t really equipped to make that kind of a commitment.

The real solution to this problem is for the Federal Government to step in and mandate how much schools are allowed to charge, or set up programs that grant free tuition to state universities. Until such a time as one of those is a reality however, acts of philanthropy like these are priceless and provide opportunity to thousands of kids that might not have had a chance at further education otherwise. Please sign here to thank Mr. James for his generosity and to encourage other wealthy people to do similar things with their money.

Dear Mr. James,

I am writing to express my joy at hearing that you will be personally paying for hundreds of kids’ college experiences. As I’m sure you are aware, there is a large student loan problem in the United States and it is only growing every day. The average student will leave school with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of debt and very few will be able to pay it off in a timely fashion. This happens because schools have jacked up the prices of their tuition and put the burden of paying for it onto the government, which then turns around and passes that burden off to the students in the form of 30 payment plans.

Luckily however, kind people like you with more resources than you need are willing to help lessen that burden and for that, I am thankful. I appreciate what you have done to help the kids who end up receiving the benefits of your philanthropy and I know that it will make a big difference in not only their lives, but the lives of everyone they meet and influence. Thank you for doing this and please encourage other successful people that you know to follow your wonderful example.
