Explain Shutdown of Bernie Sanders Event by Protesters

Target: Marissa Johnson, Black Lives Matter Seattle

Goal: Explain protesters’ shutdown of a Bernie Sanders event under dubious circumstances.

Thousands are questioning the true motives of a seemingly sketchy attack on a Bernie Sanders event in Seattle by alleged Black Lives Matter protesters. A small group of protesters stormed the stage and took the microphone from Sanders, claiming that he needed to be held accountable for his complacency in defending black lives.

Sanders has been the most outspoken of any presidential hopeful over systematic racism and has even publicly called out the names of black victims murdered at the hands of police. One of his main political points is prison reform, and Sanders even marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. in the civil rights era.

Black Lives Matter is a vital grassroots movement fighting for legitimate grievances, but the Seattle chapter seemed to spring out of nowhere, with its Facebook page being created days ago. Many have already cited co-founder Marissa Johnson’s Facebook page that contains much Christian radicalism.

People are wondering if, because of the seeming illegitimacy of the new chapter and its founders, the attack may have bee a political one set forth by another candidate. Either way, something doesn’t seem right. Urge the co-founders of the Seattle Black Lives Matter chapter to provide a better explanation for their actions.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Marissa Johnson,

Thousands are questioning the true motives of your seemingly sketchy attack on a Bernie Sanders event in Seattle. Sanders has been the most outspoken of any presidential hopeful over systematic racism and has even publicly called out the names of black victims murdered at the hands of police. One of his main political points is prison reform, and Sanders even marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. in the civil rights era. Why would he be the person to attack?

Black Lives Matter is a vital grassroots movement fighting for legitimate grievances, but your chapter seemed to spring out of nowhere, with its Facebook page being created days ago. People are wondering if, because of the seeming illegitimacy of the new chapter and its founders, the attack may have bee a political one set forth by another candidate. Either way, something doesn’t seem right.

I urge you and your co-founders to provide a better explanation for your actions.

Sincerely,
