Punish Officer Accused of Neglecting Dogs and Goat

Thai-Ridgeback

Target: Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk

Goal: Push for an appropriate punishment for officer who allegedly endangered the lives of animals in her care.

A police officer from Dallas, Texas was arrested for animal cruelty after she allegedly had dogs locked up in her home without proper food or water. The dogs were left in bad shape and were placed in the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Dallas to recover from the damage left by their owner.

The Dallas Police Department received an anonymous tip that a home did not appear to be giving proper care to its pet dogs. The homeowner turned out to be a Dallas Police Officer, Kandy Standige. When the officers visited her home, she agreed to remove the animals from her home by moving them to her mother’s home. Unfortunately, the officers saw the horrific condition of the dogs and arrested her on animal cruelty charges. According to documents, the dogs were in poor health conditions because Standige failed to provide necessary care for the dogs. The animals appeared to have varying degrees of health issues, including weight and hair loss. They were all covered in fleas, ticks, and fecal matter. Animal control was called in to take temporary custody of the six dogs and one goat. They were then moved to the care of the SPCA of Dallas.

Although Standige is a police officer, she violated the law and had to be held accountable for her actions. Please sign this petition to ask the district attorney to advocate for an appropriate punishment for Kandy Standige, if found guilty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney Hawk,

A police officer was allegedly found neglecting her pets and was then arrested on charges of animal abuse. Officers had to seize her six dogs and a goat to be moved to the care of the SPCA of Dallas. The authorities were aware of this situation thanks to a tip sent to the department.

It is unfortunate that the alleged abuser is an officer in Dallas. It goes to show that abuse can come in many shapes and forms and can be done by anybody. It is important to let people know that there are animal shelters that can help if a person or family is unable to care for their pets. Unfortunately, the animals in this situation were badly neglected and were sent to the SPCA. Please punish this officer for her role in the abuse of these seven animals.

Sincerely,
