Target: Barack Obama, President of the United States
Goal: Thank President Obama for taking steps to reduce the adverse effects of climate change.
Coal-burning power plants will have to cut down on the amount of greenhouse gas emissions they are producing thanks to plans put in place by President Obama. Climate change will likely have less of an effect on the Earth as a result.
Power plants in all states will be required to release 32 percent less carbon dioxide into the air by the year 2030. Each state will be allowed to accomplish this goal in whatever way they see fit. However, if a state chooses not to put together and submit plans explaining how they will try to do so, the EPA will have the right to devise their own plan for the particular state.
The fact that all states will be required to cut down on power plant emissions is great news since it has been shown that one-third of emissions in the United States are released into the air by power plants. In fact, emissions from power plants have been recognized as the biggest contributor to climate change.
Sign this petition to thank President Obama, the ForceChange community and other advocates for doing whatever possible to fight for this much needed change. As President Obama has clearly indicated, if we are going to preserve this beautiful planet for our children, we must take crucial steps now.
Dear President Obama,
It has come to the attention of United States citizens that you have devised a plan that will require coal-burning power plants to cut down on their greenhouse emissions. The harsh effects that climate change has on the planet will likely lessen as a result.
We are happy that states will be required to divulge how they will release 32 percent less carbon dioxide into the air by 2022 and that such plans are on track to be implemented by 2030. Since scientists have concluded that power plants are mostly responsible for the adverse effects that climate change has on the planet, we are grateful you are putting a plan in action that will help to improve this serious situation.
We would like to thank you for taking steps to improve our planet for current and future generations. If we continue to work together to make such changes, many more positive results will likely be the outcome.
