Keep Toxic Chemicals Out of Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

Target: Head Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Norman C. Bay

Goal: Keep a dirty, polluting gas compressor from being put next to Walden’s Puddle rehabilitation and education center.

An energy corporation wants to put a gas compressor station right next door to the rehab center Walden’s Puddle, which is the only wildlife rehabilitation and education center in mid-Tennessee and is responsible for improving and prolonging the lives of over 3,500 injured, orphaned, and sick animals annually. It is very well known that these stations produce toxic chemicals, gases, and noise at decibels that are harmful to both humans and animals. If the station is brought to completion, the noise and air pollution will be intolerable for the delicate wildlife and Walden’s Puddle will close, taking many animals’ last chance at life with them.

This health and care center has served Tennessee’s wildlife for over 20 years, and there is no reason to place industry in such close proximity to a nature center or in an area like Walden’s Puddle at all. It would be no problem for Kinder Morgan to find a different area for their station that is properly zoned for industry. Tell the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to change the proposed location for the compressor station.

Dear Chairman Bay,

Walden’s Puddle is a wildlife rehabilitation and education center that has been in operation for over 20 years. They care for and better the lives of over 3,500 animals every year and assist them when they are injured, orphaned, or sick. Right now, Walden’s Puddle is at risk of closing their doors permanently, leaving these animals hopeless and out of options. The reason is Kinder Morgan’s decision to place a gas compressor station directly next door.

If this gas compressor station is put in so close to these fragile and sensitive animals, the toxic gases and chemicals as well as the sound released will be intolerable and Walden’s Puddle will be forced to close their doors. Local lawmakers have already spoken up loud and strong against the location placement of this station, and over 60,000 people have already shared their voices in the fight against Kinder Morgan.

Ultimately, all state laws and regulations can be modified or overruled by the FERC. Please insist that Kinder Morgan find a better location for their industry and save countless wild animals from misery or death.
