Target: Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor
Goal: If investigation shows transgender woman was murdered, help bring her justice by issuing maximum punishment to killer.
A 25-year-old transgender woman was reportedly found dead from blunt force trauma to her upper body outside the Tampa University Area Community Park. The poor victim’s beaten body was reportedly found between two basket ball courts and a playground. According to the Tampa Bay, police have yet to find any suspects, although detectives are investigating.
Outlets are reporting that this young woman is the tenth death among transgender women believed to have been murdered in just this year. Nine of them, including the most recent victim have been black, hinting that these aren’t isolated killings, but that the women may have been targeted due to their transgender status and being black.
This senseless and tragic death of yet another transgender human proves that an example needs to be set, starting whoever killed this woman, if she was murdered.
With that said, please urge the Tampa police chief to utilize all resources in the investigation to find out if this woman was murdered, and if she was, to make an example that will help decrease the extreme amount of violence being inflicted upon the transgender community by issuing the most severe sentence the law will allow. We must show zero tolerance for this kind of hate-fueled violence.
Dear Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor,
The number of transgender women believed to have been murdered this year just rose to ten when a transgender woman was reportedly found dead in what police believe to have been a murder. It seems likely that she was targeted out of pure hate and discrimination.
If the investigation shows that this woman was killed, we urge you to set an example by helping to ensure the killer receives the maximum sentence possible in order to help prevent more hate-fueled murders.
