Target: Rite Aid CEO John T. Standley
Goal: Stop purchasing paper products from loggers that are destroying the massive Boreal Forest.
A huge natural forest containing many endangered animals is being systematically destroyed by loggers that sell paper products to corporations like Rite Aid. The Boreal Forest in Canada by itself represents one third of all the Earth’s forest cover. It’s an essential barrier to climate change and houses many threatened and endangered species including wolves and woodland caribou.
The caribou especially need large swaths of natural habitat in order to migrate and care for their young. Unfortunately, humans are shrinking this habitat every day through unsustainable logging practices. Many companies are still purchasing paper products from logging companies that don’t care for anything but profits, including the massive drug store chain Rite Aid.
If Rite Aid were to follow in the footsteps of other companies and dedicate themselves to only purchasing paper products from logging companies that use sustainable practices which promote the preservation of healthy forests, it would be a huge victory in the fight against climate change and the widespread extinction of important animal species. Sign this petition to urge Rite Aid to join the line of companies that have pledged to fight for our planet.
Dear Mr. Standley,
Our planet is currently in crisis due to the effects of human-made climate change, which we’re only beginning to experience. Part of the cause of the drastic shift in weather patterns is the destruction of the Earth’s forests, including the massive Boreal Forest in Canada. Logging operations are destroying sections of this essential and irreplaceable forest every day, and your company is contributing to that.
Many companies have made the switch to paper products created through sustainable logging practices. Through this, they’re doing their part to preserve our natural forest cover that acts as a natural barrier to climate change while also housing any number of animal species, some of which are endangered. You can add your name to this list of future-conscious companies by pledging to only purchase paper products from loggers who use sustainable methods.
Almost as quickly as our forests are disappearing, people are becoming more aware of the deadly effects of climate change on humans and animals. You would gain a lot of support from environmentally conscious citizens by standing up for the environment. Please choose lives over cheap paper by dedicating your company to sustainable paper products.
