Punish Alleged Drunk Driver Who Struck and Killed Bridal Party

crash-screengrab

Target: New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman

Goal: Severely punish the man who was allegedly drunk driving when he hit a limo carrying a bridal party and killed four of the women inside.

A truck collided with a limo carrying a bridal party of eight women coming back from a celebration at a local vineyard, killing four of the women and with two more critically injured.  Officials have claimed that Steven Romeo, 55, of Southold, N.Y., was the driver of the truck and was driving while intoxicated. Romeo has been officially charged, but the charge could (and should) be upgraded.

Romeo is already pleading not guilty, as his lawyer denies claims that Romeo was drunk and while those treating Romeo for his injuries won’t give more information on him. The four innocent women who unjustly died were identified as Brittney M. Schulman, 23, and Lauren Baruch, 24, of Smithtown; Stephanie Belli, 23, of Kings Park; and Amy R. Grabina, 23, of Commack.

It seems even with media campaigns discouraging drunk driving, this is still a massive issue that people are not taking seriously. Four young women died because someone may have decided to have a little too much fun with alcohol and get behind the wheel of a car. This kind of sickening behavior is murder, and one of the most unfair situations possible.

Now, in the midst of an upcoming wedding, the families are left to pick up the broken pieces and move on with their lives. But that won’t be without immense struggle. For this, demand that officials enforce the strictest and highest punishment possible for Romeo if he is found to have been drunk driving.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman,

A truck collided with a limo carrying a bridal party of eight women coming back from a celebration at a local vineyard, killing four of the women and with two more critically injured. Officials have claimed that Steven Romeo, 55, of Southold, N.Y., was the driver of the truck and was driving while intoxicated.

Four young women died because someone may have decided to have a little too much fun with alcohol and get behind the wheel of a car. This kind of sickening behavior is murder, and one of the most unfair situations possible. I urge you to enforce the strictest and highest punishment possible for Romeo if he is found to have been drunk driving.

Sincerely,
