Target: Mr. Barack Obama, President of the United States of America
Goal: Commend successful diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear future.
A landmark agreement has been reached by Iran and several other global powers which will allow the nation to take advantage of nuclear power all the while putting the minds of those afraid of a nuclear weapon at ease. It’s rare to see but, on this most auspicious occasion, diplomacy won out over all of the fearmongering and hatred involved in this debate. This deal is a huge feather in the cap of all of the leaders involved in making it possible and they all deserve to be commended for making the world a safer, more inclusive place.
The debate over Iran’s nuclear future was so heated because there were actors on all sides with serious concerns and fears. Many, namely Israel and the Republican Party, feared that Iran was working on a nuclear weapon, Iran was suffering under sanctions and believed it should be allowed the same resources as other countries, and the international community was struggling to find a diplomatic and peaceful solution that would please all sides. Thankfully, after weeks of talks and meetings, this deal was struck.
The deal, referred to as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, has something for every player involved. For Iran it means the ability to pursue nuclear power, which has been proven to be efficient and environmentally friendly, plus the removal of several sanctions and embargos. For the other nations involved it means a reduction in the number of centrifuges that Iran has and a smaller stockpile of uranium, effectively quelling fears of nuclear weapons.
This landmark piece of diplomacy has not received support from some sectors of the American political circus, but it is undoubtedly a big win for all lovers of peace and fairness. Please sign here to commend the leaders that made this possible and urge diplomatic solutions to all problems.
Dear President Obama,
I am writing to you with a heart full of joy thanks to your diplomatic resolution of the issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear future. I understand that the agreement you helped the world to reach is not popular with all of your colleagues, but I want you to know that I fully support your diplomatic approach and hope that you will continue to be diplomatic in all of your dealings with other nations. In a world with so many different states, with so many different wants, needs, fears, and desires, slow but steady diplomacy is the only way forward.
This conflict could certainly have spread and turned into something much more dangerous and harmful than a few pundits’ criticisms. Thank you for following your heart and making the world a more peaceful and inclusive place. All nations deserve the resources that are available to other nations just as all nations deserve the promise of security.
