Stop Florida State’s Delinquent Football Players

florida-state-footb all-by-thomson20192

Target: Stan Wilcox, Florida State University Athletic Director

Goal: Reform the football program to weed out delinquent players and enforce strict punishments for players who act out and commit crimes.

Florida State running back Dalvin Cook is in hot water after being accused of punching a woman while drunk. He may now be facing battery charges. This case comes shortly after a video was released of Florida State quarterback De’Andre Johnson punching a woman in the face at a bar recently. Johnson was charged with misdemeanor battery for striking the woman during an argument.

But these cases aren’t the first or second time Florida State football players have been in hot water lately for horrible crimes. Former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was involved in a high profile case where he allegedly raped another student.

Acting out in violent or straight up childish ways seems to be a real issue for some Florida State football players. John Thatcher, president of Florida State University, recently addressed the football players urging them to not “put themselves in situations that reflect poor behavior or cause harm to others.” Obviously warnings like this are not doing enough.

We cannot allow troubled players to remain a pattern and continue to set a bad example. Urge FSU officials to overhaul the football program to weed out delinquent players and enforce strict punishments for players who act out and commit crimes.
