Target: Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto
Goal: Send escaped cartel leader Joaquin Guzman to U.S. prison once he is found.
Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the head of the Cartel that is responsible for much of the marijuana, heroin, and cocaine that is sold on U.S. streets, has escaped from his prison cell in Mexico and is now on the loose. The leader of the Sinaloa Cartel is believed to have bribed prison officials and those on the outside to help him dig a complex, mile-long tunnel with lighting and ventilation.
Sources say that U.S. officials wanted Guzman to be extradited to the U.S. when he was caught because of his history of escaping prison. In 2001, he escaped and was able to remain on a Mexican resort for 13 years before being caught.
According to experts, officers in Mexican prisons will often take bribes, especially from a person as wealthy as Guzman. Therefore, in order to prevent him from escaping again, he should be sent to a U.S. prison once he is caught.
Dear President Nieto,
Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, is on the loose again after a sophisticated escape plan from a Mexican prison.
Experts say that in Mexico, prison workers will often take bribes, especially from a person as wealthy as Guzman, out of fear. Therefore, it makes sense for Guzman to be transported to a U.S. prison once he is caught so that he will not be able to easily bribe workers, and he can remain behind bars.
We the undersigned urge you to turn Guzman over to the U.S. once he is in custody.
