Target: Tyson Foods
Goal: Break contract with McGinnis Farm in Delaware because of their alleged mistreatment of chickens.
Undercover footage shot by workers at McGinnis Farm in Delaware, which raises chickens for Tyson Foods, shows images of chickens that are allegedly sick, injured, and living in darkness. The recently released footage was shot by workers who were actually animal rights activists for Mercy for Animals, a group that seeks to increase standards in factory farming.
In one scene, a chicken is grounded because of its own unnaturally large size and tries to flap its wings while laying in dirt. In another scene, chickens are shown being tossed onto the ground carelessly. Chickens deserve better. Demand that Tyson break its contract with McGinnis Farm to show that the type of abuse that McGinnis allegedly allows on its farms will not be tolerated.
Dear Tyson Foods,
Undercover footage at McGinnis Farm, who you have contracted to raise chickens, has recently been released. The videos show the alleged abuse that occurs on the farm: chickens being thrown around carelessly and some living with horrific injuries. No animal deserves to live in such conditions.
We the undersigned urge you to end your contract with McGinnis Farm in Delaware and show the public that you will not tolerate chickens being treated in such a way.
