Target: Cookeville Chief of Police Randy Evans
Goal: Investigate alleged pet mishandling by a local dog care center that reportedly lied about the death of a dog.
A Tennessee couple is alleging that a doggie daycare center lost or released their dog and covered it up by saying that their pet had suddenly died.
Deidre Cole and her husband left for a holiday and left their dog Fawn under the care of Best Friends Critter Sitter, a local dog boarding facility. When the couple returned from their holiday, they were allegedly informed that their dog had died peacefully in her sleep and that the facility had buried her. Cole decided to go online in search of another dog only to find a photo resembling that of Fawn.
The dog owner contacted the shelter and was informed that the dog believed to be Fawn had been picked up with bad injuries. The facility further added that the dog needed stitches and would be up for adoption once nursed to health. A week later, the couple says they visited the local shelter only to re-adopt a dog they had been informed was dead.
Deidre Cole is not interested in suing Best Friends Critter Sitter; she only wants to know what happened to her pet and receive an apology from the center. The boarding facility in question has not made any public declarations on the matter, making it harder to know what happened to Fawn. Cole had to deal with the pain of losing her beloved pet though she took the matter more lightly than most people would. It is saddening that she has not received any news from the center despite the unfortunate incident.
Further research alleges that this is not the first time the said facility has been involved in pet mishandling. Best Friends Critter Sitter has been suspected to hide the mishandling of pets left under their care. The dog center is lucky that Cole is not going to press charges. To Cole, the most important thing is that Fawn is back safe.
It was extremely unprofessional for Best Friends Critter Sitter to behave in such a manner if the allegations are true. Sign this petition to demand an investigation of this dog daycare center. Your signature could make a difference as the Coles are raising awareness to ensure such incidents do not happen in future.
Dear Randy Evans,
A couple recently left their dog at a local care center hoping that the facility would care for the pet in their absence. To their shock, they were informed that their dog died and that it had been buried. The couple later realized that the dog was living in a different facility after being picked up with bad injuries.
It seems the center gave false information about the dog. It is also alleged that the same care center has been involved in other cases of pet mishandling. Though the act was unprofessional, the dog owner is not willing to take any legal action against the said facility, but only wants to know what happened to her dog. The incident should be investigated to prevent it from happening in future. Please examine this dog care center and establish the cause of their action to avoid such incidences in future.
