Release Animals Allegedly Kept in Dangerous Conditions

tiger

Target: Eric Mogensen, owner of Gulf Breeze Zoo

Goal: Relinquishes ownership of abused animals to wild animal sanctuaries.

Recently, federal officials in Florida filed a complaint against a zoo for neglecting its animals. The animals in the zoo have allegedly been living in dangerous conditions, including in enclosures with rusted fences. The reported conditions of this zoo are the result of poor management and disrespect for other living beings. If these accusations prove to be true, the owner of the zoo should give all of the animals to nature reserves.

Officials found some enclosure fences rusted, rusty nails, and poor ventilation in the tigers’ cage at Gulf Breeze Zoo, which spans 50 acres. Keeping wild animals in captivity comes with a lot of responsibility and expertise. Wild animals are vastly different from species to species in terms of what keeps them alive and what they need to be happy. Placing all of these different wild animals in the same climate with little variations between enclosures is risky. However, numerous people still insist on running zoos for profit, even if they are not invested in the animals’ well-being.

The owners of Gulf Breeze Zoo do not appear capable of raising animals properly. Sign this petition to urge one owner, Eric Mogensen, to relinquish ownership of the zoo’s animals to nature reserves if he is charged with violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Mogensen,

You have made headlines recently for the alleged mistreatment of wild animals. Federal entities have filed a complaint against your operation in hopes of giving the animals in your care a better life. I agree that animals deserve respect, safe living environments, enhanced enclosures for mental stimulation, and proper nutrition. I understand that wild animals are expensive to keep and a huge liability. However, as was seen in the incident where a camel bit a child, improper enclosures and unhappy animals are also a liability.

If charges are brought against the zoo and you and your daughter are in violation of the Animal Welfare Act, I urge you to relinquish ownership of your animals. They would all live relaxing, fulfilling lives in the care of nature preserves. I also urge you to take your experience in this situation and use it for education about animals and the respect they deserve.

This has to be a difficult time for you. Please know that you will be vastly supported if you choose a better life for your animals.

Sincerely,
