Target: Google CEO, Larry Page

Goal: Applaud Google for removing “revenge porn” from its search results upon request.

Google has announced its plans to remove certain nude photos upon request. The practice in question, known as revenge porn, has increased in frequency and is used as a disgusting form of revenge, typically among exes. Thank Google CEO Larry Page for enacting this policy and vowing to protect victims of revenge porn.

Google Vice President Amit Singhal has expressed compassion, stating, “Our philosophy has always been that Search should reflect the whole web. But revenge porn images are intensely personal and emotionally damaging, and serve only to degrade the victims–predominantly women.” Often times, the victims of revenge porn did not even consent to the original photos or videos. It comes as a complete shock when they discover humiliating photos of themselves nude on the internet, especially when consent was not given.

As one of the largest search engines and a hugely successful company, it is of the utmost importance to have Google on board with banning revenge porn. This is a huge win for so many. Victims of this practice can now contact Google to have the photos removed, much like photos that may contain personal bank account information.

Please sign this petition to thank Google CEO Larry Page for protecting victims of revenge porn and contributing to the elimination of this harmful practice.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Page,

Google’s recent decision to ban revenge porn by removing nude photos upon request is warmly welcomed by much of the public. Victims of revenge porn now have the protection of a large company sure to play a huge role in banning the practice of revenge porn.

Due a surge in technology and social media in recent years, the practice of revenge porn has increased. It is way too easy for individuals to share or even take nude photos and videos without consent. Unfortunately, victims are often left feeling ashamed, betrayed, and without support. Google is doing everything in its power to make sure these victims know they are not alone.

A bold statement has been made that is sure to influence other companies experiencing similar requests from users. This can only produce positive effects as this disgusting social epidemic has already affected too many citizens. Thank you for your role in fighting against the practice of revenge porn and ensuring the protection of victims.

Sincerely,
