Target: Girl Scout Arianna Spurlock

Goal: Support Girl Scouts who got showered with racist language for speaking out about the subject of animal abuse.

After reading about horrible conditions at their local animal shelter, several young girls attended a public meeting to express their concerns and feelings about animal abuse in Maryland. Instead of getting a round of applause, adults in the audience disrespectfully responded by shouting racial insults at all of them.

During the meeting, the girls, who are members of the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Troops, expressed their concerns about the treatment of the animals that are residing at the county’s animal control facility. They said that they were sad that the animal did not have a “good” home. According to ABC News, individuals in the crowd yelled, “Go back to Baltimore where you belong” at the girls. Another person called even called them animals. The entire incident was caught on video and has been seen by thousands of people on social media.

Allegedly, supporters of the county’s animal control facility, A Buddy For Life, made the racial commentaries. The county pays thousands of dollars to the animal control facilities every month, but news outlets reported that a surprise visit to the facility showed less than satisfactory animal care. Authorities found feces, strong odors, and dogs with disregarded skin conditions. A Buddy For Life has repeatedly been penalized for violating state law.

Please sign this petition to show support for the girl scouts that were courageous enough to speak up for the safety of animals in Maryland.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Arianna Spurlock,

You and your sisters were disrespectfully shouted at with racial remarks while you were rallying to stop animal abuse in Maryland. It is hard to believe that adults had the audacity to yell racist things at you and your sister while you were addressing a very important issue. There is no excuse for adults to be behaving in this manner.

We appreciate you and your sisters for speaking up for the thousands of animals that are suffering each day. You and your sisters are so smart and brave for speaking out about something you truly care about. Animal abuse is definitely something that needs to be spoken about. Please continue to be the courageous girls that you are and continue your fight against animal cruelty and abuse.

Sincerely,

  2. Kathleen Williams says:

I wish I was even aware of animal welfare at her age! What a courageous young woman! I hope she stays strong, and continues to speak up for helpless victims.

  3. The young girl scouts who spoke up against animal cruelty at a county shelter demonstrated maturity and compassion that the adults should have applauded. Instead they reacted as heartless, cruel, racist idiots. It is a shame that it takes young people to show adults how humans should behave. Those “adults” were an embarrassment to the human race. We need more youth with the courage, empathy and integrity of these young women. We don’t need ANY “adults” like the imbeciles who denigrated them.
