Support Bank for Refusing to Pull LGBT-Friendly Ad

Target: Wells Fargo CEO John G. Stumpf

Goal: Applaud the decision to continue running an LGBT-friendly ad in the face of outside pressure.

Wells Fargo recently made a bold statement by running an ad featuring a same-sex couple despite the controversy they knew it might stir. As expected, the ad was met with much criticism from various religious groups. Despite losing customers and being asked to remove the ad, Wells Fargo has stood its ground. Thank Wells Fargo CEO John G. Stumpf for making a brave statement by expressing support for the LGBT community.

Several religious groups, including the American Family Association, have urged its followers to close their Wells Fargo accounts immediately, citing the bank’s long history of unwavering support for the LGBT community. Wells Fargo has certainly taken criticism from customers who prefer their bank abide by biblical standards.

Even so, Wells Fargo has remained seemingly unfazed and proud of their decision to promote support for all customers, including those in minority groups. As one of the nation’s leading banks, it would be easy for Wells Fargo to take a neutral stance so as to avoid the risk of losing customers amid controversy. That has not been the case.

Wells Fargo has demonstrated strong resolve and remained a proud, loud supporter of LGBT rights. Please sign this petition to thank Wells Fargo for running an LGBT-friendly ad and for continuing to embrace customer differences.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Stumpf,

Wells Fargo has recently come under fire from religious groups displeased with an LGBT-friendly ad. Despite losing customers and receiving unwarranted criticism, Wells Fargo has remained a strong supporter of the LGBT community, taking extra care to embrace all customers despite their differences.

This is of the utmost importance in the fight for equality and means a great deal to many customers. It is not the first time Wells Fargo has gone out on a limb for minority groups and I am sure it will not be the last.

As one of the leading banks in the United States, it is always important to embrace customers with open arms. In this case, that meant refusing to take down an ad meant to demonstrate and celebrate our differences. I believe these ideals have significantly contributed to the success of Wells Fargo.

Thank you for remaining a strong supporter of the LGBT community and most importantly, for standing your ground amid controversy.

Sincerely,
