Justice for 23 Animals Found Dead

Target: Thomas M. Quinn III, New Bedford District Attorney

Goal: Punish couple allegedly responsible for the deaths of 23 animals.

Police officers found 23 dead animals after they entered the home of 23-year-old Sabrina Harding and 24-year-old Jake Brousseau based on an anonymous tip. The couple is also believed to have been involved in another animal cruelty case in Rhode Island, where a dead llama, seven dead chickens, and two dead ducks were found.

The officers reported that they could smell a stench immediately after approaching the apartment. As they walked inside, they saw cages containing alive and dead animals reaching up to the ceiling. One of the apartment rooms had the windows covered up, with dead reptiles, rabbits, birds, and chinchillas on the floor and in cages. Some animals were found alive, such as a German Shepherd that was tied to a three-foot leash with only hay to eat. A few cats were also found alive, but there was no evidence of food or water provided for them. There were a total of 46 animals in the apartment, both dead and alive.

The couple was allegedly using the apartment for the sole purpose of keeping the animals there while residing at a different location. They reportedly only visited the apartment when they deemed necessary, although the animals were provided with no food or water. A local shelter took in the animals that had survived, including the German Shepherd and cats. One of the representatives for the shelter reports that it is the highest number of animal deaths he had heard of since working there.

The shelter has managed to adopt some of the animals to loving homes. However, 46 animals were still found abused and neglected in the apartment. If found guilty, this couple deserves to be punished for the pain and suffering of the animals they held. Please sign this petition to bring justice for the deaths of these animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Quinn,

Twenty-three animals were allegedly found dead in a New Bedford apartment. In total, there were 46 animals in the apartment, and there was no evidence that they were provided with food and water. The animals were found both dead and alive in cramped cages, with so many cages that they reached as high as the ceiling.

This New Bedford couple, Sabrina Harding and Jake Brousseau, deserve to be properly punished if found guilty. Please do everything in your power to ensure justice for the abuse and neglect brought upon these helpless animals.

Sincerely,
