End Cruel Animal Abuse at Rodeos

Target: Gloucester County Improvement Authority Executive Director, George Strachan

Goal: Regulate rodeos to put an end to cruel animal abuse.

Video footage and reports have sparked allegations of neglect and abuse among various rodeo animals in Gloucester County, New Jersey. The footage reportedly shows that animals are in placed in extreme conditions with no food or water and are regularly subjected to torture. This kind of abuse at rodeos cannot slip through the cracks any longer. Urge the Gloucester County Improvement Authority to take a stand for these animals and enact proper regulation at rodeos.

Evidence shows the animals tied by the neck with little to no room to move for hours at a time. The building frequently reaches high temperatures and they’re left without food or water, often foaming at the mouth. One of the bulls can be seen falling over due to fatigue and dehydration. Electric prods are allegedly being used excessively as well, resulting in bloody, horrendous wounds. To top it off, reports of excessive alcohol consumption are common among those in charge of handling the animals.

None of these practices are acceptable, especially at an event kids will undoubtedly attend with their families. The owners of the park where the events took place have admitted to the mistreatment of the animals, but that is the extent of the action taken thus far.

Please sign this petition to urge the Gloucester County Improvement Authority to enact proper regulation at future rodeos to ensure these practices do not continue.

Dear Mr. Strachan,

The recent events that allegedly took place at a rodeo in Gloucester County have been well documented and are deeply disturbing. The mistreatment of animals is not to be taken lightly, especially at a family event. There is much to be done regarding the well-being of animals at rodeos and this is an opportunity to start a necessary discussion. Please enact proper regulation at rodeos in Gloucester County to ensure abuse does not continue.

Reports indicate that animals were recently left without food or water, showing visible signs of distress. Alcohol consumption was allegedly excessive, which can only exacerbate the issues present. The alleged use of electric prods was frequent and often unnecessary, leaving these animals with severe wounds. These are all prevalent issues that must be addressed.

Rodeos must be regulated to ensure the proper treatment of animals. Certain requirements need to be put in place to maintain the well being of these animals and those around them. Please make the necessary changes to highlight the importance of all living beings.

A rodeo in New Jersey? That’s as needless as the mistreatment of these animals. There’s no reason for rodeos to have continued into the 21st Century. It must be strictly ignorance on the part of people who get their jollies from cruelty, ‘cuz it’s hard to believe that these losers would have enough money to buy off any politicians.

  6. “So many people insist they are against animal abuse, cruelty, suffering and the inhumane treatment of animals, yet they don’t understand they are actively engaging in and supporting egregious suffering, abuse, cruelty and inhumane treatment when they eat animals and their ‘by-products.’ If you are against cruelty, suffering and inhumane treatment, then you go vegan. It’s just that simple.” – Sarah Kiser

  7. We do NOT have the right to abuse animals — animals should be treated with care, understanding and respect — to do otherwise is cruel, merciless, irrational, unconscionable, immoral, hateful, irrational, insane — STOP this horrific criminal behavior against animals — they are innocent, vulnerable and AT OUR MERCY — start using your heads and hearts!
