Target: Theresa Genest, President of Roseville Community Schools
Goal: Fire official for reported history of making anti-Muslim comments online.
Muslims are all living in the 7th century and have sex with animals, according to comments allegedly shared by Alfredo Francesconi, a member of Roseville, Michigan’s Board of Education. These kinds of anti-Muslim and racist remarks cannot be tolerated on the part of anyone, especially those in a position of authority over a diverse school system. Demand that Francesconi be fired for these horribly offensive remarks.
Francesconi, the Vice President of the Roseville Community Schools Board of Education, has gotten into hot water over a post he allegedly shared on his Facebook profile. The post, originally from the rampant anti-Muslim activist Jan Morgan, complained about having to “walk on eggshells in my own country” just in order to avoid offending “7th century Islamic goat humpers.” Needless to say, this rhetoric has gotten him a lot of criticism from those in his own community and around the country.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Francesconi has been called out for his apparent anti-Muslim attitudes. Back in 2013 after the Boston Marathon bombings, he reportedly shared a similar Facebook post that implied that all Muslims were terrorists like those responsible for the bombing itself.
This history of anti-Muslim commentary shows that Francesconi is unfit to serve as a the member of a school board that oversees a diverse and multicultural school system. Sign the petition below to demand that the Roseville Community Schools leadership fire Francesconi from his vice presidency at once.
Dear President Genest,
I am writing you today regard the comments that your colleague, Alfredo Francesconi, allegedly shared on his Facebook profile. They were offensive, Islamophobic, and racist, and should disqualify him from serving on your school board any longer.
Muslims in the United States are subjected to harassment, discrimination, and violence every day just because their religion is shared by a minority of extremists who use the faith to justify acts of political and ideological violence. This is unfair and indefensible behavior against Americans who want nothing but to live their lives in peace.
Francesconi’s reported comments used the racial slur of “goat humpers” and suggested that Muslims are incompatible with the modern 21st century. They reflect and perpetuate the culture of ignorance and bigoted hate that leads American Muslims to experience the harassment and violence mentioned above.
The fact that this is not the first time that Francesconi has gotten in trouble for allegedly sharing insensitive remarks about Muslims shows that he cannot be trusted to change his views. As a result, he cannot be relied on to work for a diverse and multicultural school district without bias. I demand that you fire him from the Roseville Community Schools Board of Education at once.
