Target: Founder and CEO of HARD Summer, Gary Richards
Goal: Applaud cancellation of musician’s performance following his alleged verbal attack on the LGBT community.
Marijus Adomaitis, better known to the music community as Ten Walls, has turned his world upside down following his alleged offensive rant about the LGBT community. He has since been dropped from his agency and several upcoming performances have been cancelled. One of the most notable is HARD Summer, a hugely successful music festival in Southern California. Thank the founder of this festival for taking a stand for equality and refusing to allow Ten Walls to play.
The homophobic comments in question include the comparison of homosexuality to pedophilia and referring to members of the LGBT community as a different breed. It didn’t take long for his words to spread over social media and much of the public has expressed its disgust.
As a producer of house music, Ten Walls is part of a much larger community known for its love and acceptance of others. HARD Summer is no different. The festival was quick to reiterate its progressive ideals by expressing support of the LGBT community.
Just as any human being is entitled to his or her own opinions, HARD Summer is entitled to refuse affiliation with homophobia. Please sign this petition to thank Gary Richards for reiterating the ideals found at HARD Summer and for spreading love and acceptance.
Dear Mr. Richards,
I have been continuously impressed by your actions following Ten Walls’ alleged homophobic comments on social media. I fully support the decision to cancel his performance and the need to express nothing but acceptance for the LGBT community. Thank you for emphasizing HARD Summer’s representation of equality and acceptance, highlighted in the cancellation of a homophobic DJ’s performance.
Music festivals continue to grow in popularity and it would be easy to let go of liberal views and simply strive for financial success. This has not been the case. HARD Summer is more than a music festival. It is a celebration of our differences and a desire to bring people together with a common interest. I have nothing but the utmost respect for these ideals.
I believe the cancellation of Ten Walls’ performance was the right decision and spreads a strong and uplifting message. Again, thank you for spreading positivity and not allowing the spirit of homophobia to dictate an otherwise amazing experience.
