Target: Walmart CEO C. Douglas McMillon
Goal: Increase your minimum wage for all workers.
Walmart has announced that by February 2016 most of its part time workers will be making $10 per hour. Many of the department managers will also be getting a raise, the company reportedly says, and will be making a minimum of $13 per hour.
However, its entry-level employees such as cashiers, cart-pushers, and shelf stockers could still be making only $9 per hour. Many of those workers currently earn only $7.25 per hour.
While this is a step in the right direction, Walmart could do so much more. Ten dollars per hour is not a livable wage. Urge Walmart to increase its minimum wage to $13 not just for department managers, but for all employees.
Dear Mr. McMillon,
It was announced that many of your employees will be getting a raise next year. While that’s a step in the right direction, it is said that many of them will still only be earning $9 or $10 per hour. That is not a livable wage.
Your company also announced that department managers will earn $13 per hour. We the undersigned urge you to increase the minimum wage for all of your employees to $13 per hour so that everyone can afford to live.
