Target: Village Church
Goal: Allow Karen Hinkley to leave church.
The Village Church, a 10,000 member organization, is facing criticism for its reaction after one of its members, Jordan Root, apparently admitted to viewing child pornography. Sources say that Root’s wife, Karen Hinkley, has requested immediate annulment of the marriage which has lead the church to put her on formal church discipline.
The church has apparently said that when a person becomes a member they agree to accept help from the church for situations like divorce or annulment. Because Hinkley has refused the help and requested an immediate annulment, she is not keeping up her end of the bargain, according to church officials. The church is also apparently refusing to let Hinkley leave the church because members have to be in good standing in order to leave.
Jordan Root, because he allegedly confessed to his sin and accepted the church’s counseling, is in good standing with the church.
Demand that the Village Church to stop protecting this accused pedophile and allow Karen Hinkley to cancel her membership.
Dear Village Church,
Reports say that Jordan Root, one of your members, is in good standing with the church despite allegedly admitting to viewing child pornography. His wife, though, is apparently not in good standing because she wants an annulment and has refused your help.
This seems to be backward and sexist. You’re allegedly protecting a member who has been accused of committing a crime, yet have place his wife on church discipline for wanting to leave him.
We the undersigned strongly urge you to stop protecting Jordan Root and allow Karen Hinkley to leave the church and seek an annulment from her husband.
