Praise Exposure of Company that Sprayed Pesticides on Workers

Target: Mr. Darryl Ivy, Truck Driver for Applebee Aviation

Goal: Praise watchdog for capturing footage of pesticide allegedly being sprayed directly on workers.

Lumber companies in Oregon are allegedly spraying weed-killing pesticides directly onto their workers from helicopters in an attempt to be more productive. One company in particular, Applebee Aviation, was reportedly caught on video doing so by an employee named Darryl Ivy. This flagrant show of disregard for employees is not only despicable, it’s illegal and Applebee Aviation must be punished accordingly. Without the brave efforts of Mr. Ivy, however, none of that would be possible and he deserves praise for standing up to his employer.

Mr. Ivy, a truck driver for Applebee, drove hazardous materials through forests, by homes, near streams, and on mountain roads. His videos depict other employees committing egregious violations as dipping chemical stained buckets into rivers, illegally pumping water out of rivers, and of course haphazardly spraying chemical pesticides.

After releasing these videos and giving statements to newspapers in Oregon, Mr. Ivy went on to say that he was never told of any procedures to follow if he happened to be sprayed. Due to this lack of procedure, he once wore the same chemical-stained shirt for three days because the helicopter pilot who sprayed him allegedly said that it wouldn’t have any effect on him.

It is always difficult to speak out against an employer because of the harm it can do to one’s career, but Mr. Ivy did so for the greater good and he is deserving of commendation for his selflessness. This type of disregard for workers and nature cannot be accepted in the modern world and hopefully now Applebee Aviation will be held accountable. Please sign here to thank Mr. Ivy and encourage other whistleblowers to come forward about more possible abuse.

Dear Mr. Ivy,

I am writing to thank you for personally exposing Applebee Aviation’s abuse of their workers and Oregon’s wildlife. It is never easy to speak out against an employer but you have done so for the greater good. Applebee’s flagrant lack of regard for their workers or the natural world that they so desperately need for business are both despicable and illegal. Hopefully, and thanks to your recordings of their activities, they will be brought to justice and punished accordingly.

It is entirely believable that they would break laws and flout regulations for profit. What is unbelievable is that they never told you about the dangers of what they were doing and about how it could harm you. No safety protocols, no directions on what to do if sprayed, seemingly nothing. I truly hope that the helicopter pilot who allegedly told you that the chemicals would have no effect on you is personally held responsible.

I want to thank you once more for doing this great thing. It is rare for common, everyday folk to be able to make a difference but you most certainly have. Please continue to keep your eyes open for abuse and continue to expose it to the public.

thank you for writing such a nice article about me. Truth is I’m emotionally drained, frazzled and broke. But carry a strong facade. Lol.
