Target: Marco Rubio
Goal: Stop making same-sex marriages supporters look like villains.
Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio was recently interviewed by the Christian Broadcasting Network. During the interview he expressed concerns that mainstream Christian teaching was going to be looked at as hate speech. He said that society is pressuring everyone to support same-sex marriage by labeling those who do not as a “homophone” or a “hater.”
He also said “After they are done going after individuals, the next step is to argue that the teachings of mainstream Christianity, the catechism of the Catholic Church, is hate speech and there’s a real and present danger.”
To present those who are standing up for civil rights as villains who are condemning Christianity is unfair. Those who support same-sex marriage are simply trying to promote equal rights. Urge Marco Rubio to stop portraying same-sex marriage supporters in a negative light.
Dear Marco Rubio,
Your recent comments in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network regarding same-sex marriage and those who support it were offensive and uncalled for. You said that supporters of same-sex marriage were going to label Christianity as hate speech, making the supporters look like villains.
Those who support same-sex marriage are not out to get Christians, they’re just trying to achieve equal rights for everyone despite sexual orientation. We the undersigned urge you to stop making civil rights supporters look like villains.
