Thank Campaigner for Decreasing Food Waste

Target: Arash Derambarsh, French Campaigner and Councillor

Goal: Thank man for campaigning to decrease the amount of wasted food in France.

Recently in France, concerns for food waste are being addressed by a mandate for French supermarkets to donate discarded food to charity or other sources, such as compost sources. The local councillor who is behind this government push started a petition against food waste and garnered enough support within a few months to have a wide impact on the country.

Arash Derambarsh saw the need for decreasing the amount of food wasted in France and feeding those who are in need of food. Derambarsh started out with his campaign at an individual level, going around to supermarkets and distributing the unwanted foods to starving people.

Derambarsh’s idea of curbing supermarket food wastes to combat both of these problems was deemed necessary and practical. The new legislation that arose from Derambarsh’s campaign also makes it illegal for supermarkets to douse their discarded food with chemicals such as bleach, which was previously done to prevent people from rummaging through produce wastes for food. The legislation comes under the wider Loi Macron law, which covers economic activity and equality in France. Thanks to the new legislation, tons of food usually wasted in France will be significantly decreased, and people impacted by this change will be more well fed.

Please sign the petition below to thank Arash Derambarsh for urging the French government to make legislative changes to decrease the amount of food wasted in France. Thanks to Derambarsh’s work, countless individuals will be more well fed and other countries may be motivated to make this change as well to benefit their citizens.

Dear Arash Derambarsh,

It was quite heartening to hear about the new legislation forecoming in France to decrease food wastes and feed more hungry individuals. It is a shame that so much good food is wasted every day by supermarkets while so many individuals are starving. The idea of combating both the problems of food waste and emaciated people is essential and practical, and your campaign has allowed for the government to make these big changes.

Thank you for all the hard work that you put into getting this legislation passed in the government. Other countries will no doubt take note of this step forward in the right direction and hopefully will follow suit. I look forward to reading about the positive outcomes that arise from this legislation.
