Fifteen Sick and Malnourished Animals Deserve Justice

Target: Bibb County, Alabama District Attorney’s Office

Goal: Prevent future animal abuse cases.

Fifteen animals had to be euthanized after they were found sick and malnourished inside and around an Alabama mobile home recently. The home’s owner, Tammie Kornegay, had been arrested for a DUI and was being held in jail. A neighbor called police and told them that Kornegay’s animals weren’t being cared for.

When asked about the animals by police, Kornegy told them they were fine and had plenty of food and water. She refused to sign them over so they could be cared for. When authorities arrived at the home they found over a dozen animals with no food or water and in terrible condition. They found a dead cat and a dead dog at the property, dogs that were kept in pens outside, and other animals kept inside the locked up mobile home with no fresh air. Officials say the animals had been neglected for months.

Authorities took the animals from the property and had to euthanize 15 of them because they were so sick. Only one was able to be saved. Urge the district attorney to give Tammie Kornegay the maximum penalty for her crime if she is found guilty.

Dear Bibb County District Attorney,

Fifteen animals had to be euthanized after they were found in such a neglected state at the home of Tammie Kornegay. These animals depended on Kornegay to provide for them but she allegedly had neglected them for months.

Animal cruelty is a despicable crime and, unless those guilty face severe punishment, it will continue to happen. We the undersigned urge you to give Tammie Kornegay the maximum punishment for this crime if she is found guilty to help prevent further cases of neglect from occurring.
