Applaud McDonalds for Testing Kale in Menu

Goal: Praise kale addition to McDonald’s menu, and encourage them to continue to make healthy choices.

McDonald’s restaurants in southern California are testing out kale on their menu. According to NPR, the famous restaurant chain is testing out kale in a new breakfast bowl that also includes spinach, egg whites, and turkey sausage. This action comes in the midst of an explosive interest in healthy eating. An increasing number of people are becoming conscious of what they’re eating, which has put McDonald’s into a difficult position. These health trends have partially contributed to declining McDonald’s sales in the United States; nobody could forget the documentary Super Size Me, in which Morgan Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald’s for a month and documented the disastrous impact on his health.

Although the addition of kale to the McDonald’s menu will hopefully become a trend around the country, the fact that McDonald’s is experimenting with it on a small scale will have a positive impact on public health. As psychiatrist Drew Ramsay, the creator of National Kale Day says, “At the end of the day, if kale is at McDonald’s, more people are going to be exposed to it and more people are going to try it… And that’s a good thing for health.”

Kale is widely recognized as a superfood. It’s crammed with nutrients, and the fact that it’s being sold by McDonald’s is a step forward in nutrition. Sign this petition to praise McDonald’s for this action, and encourage them to add this leafy vegetable to McDonald’s menus around the country.

I recently heard about the addition of kale to the McDonald’s menu in select locations in southern California, and I would like to applaud your company for this action. Not only does this have a positive impact on public health, but it is also a wise marketing move. Since there are now so many people who are thinking about their health, the market for health foods is opening up. I ask that you please continue this trend.

By incorporating foods such as kale into your menu, you are promoting public health. This could eventually have a positive impact on your profits. Hopefully a new era in fast food will emerge, in which restaurants begin to offer healthier options alongside traditional fast food. I applaud you on this action, and I wish you luck in offering healthier options at McDonald’s.
