Protect Wildlife from Deadly Oil Spills

Target: Plains All American Pipeline

Goal: Protect wildlife by making oil pipes stronger.

A pipeline containing oil that stretched along the Santa Barbara coast has burst. Sources say the pipe has leaked 21,000 gallons of oil onto a beach and into the ocean which has created a sheen stretching for miles.

The Coast Guard and cleanup crews are working on containing the spill, but the wildlife in the area will undoubtedly suffer devastating effects. The company released a statement saying “Plains deeply regrets this release has occurred and is making every effort to limit its environmental impact.”

Had the pipe been stronger, perhaps this would not have occurred. Urge Plains All American Pipeline to create stronger pipes to prevent deadly oil leaks.

Dear Plains All American Pipeline,

One of your pipes in Santa Barbara, California recently burst and spilled 21,000 gallons of oil onto a beach and into the Pacific Ocean creating a dark sheen for miles.

This spill is going to have devastating effect on the area’s land and wildlife. As a company producing these oil pipes, you have a responsibility to minimize the effects you have on the environment. We the undersigned urge you to make your oil pipes stronger and more durable to prevent another spill in the future.
