End Hunting of Wildlife in Namibia

black rhino by Yathin S Krishnappa

Target: Namibia’s Ministry of Environment and Tourism

Goal: End legal killing of animals in the name of conservation.

A hunter from Texas won a bid to kill an endangered black rhino in Namibia. The hunter, who paid $350,000 for the privilege, says he’s killing the rhino because the animal is past the point of being able to reproduce and could be harmful to the younger males.

The black rhino is endangered with only 5,000 left in the world. Two thousand of those are in Namibia. While it’s a good thing that Namibia’s Ministry of Environment and Tourism is concerned with saving endangered species, auctioning off a chance to kill them is not the way. Demand that they stop allowing hunters to kill these animals legally.

Dear Ministry of Environment and Tourism,

A man from Texas recently killed a black rhino in Namibia after paying you $350,000 to do so. The man says that he is helping the endangered rhino population because this particular rhino is past the point of reproducing and could be harmful to younger rhinos.

While it’s important to protect the black rhino population, allowing hunters to kill animals in this cruel manner is not the way.

We the undersigned urge you to stop allowing hunters to legally kill these beautiful animals.

If you believe this Texas killer did this for “conservation,” I have a bridge I’d like to sell you, really cheap.

This rich SOB did it for bragging rights and nothing more. He has no respect for the animals he enjoys killing. You don’t kill those you respect. Does he respect his mother? Would he kill her and have her head mounted on the wall out of respect? Maybe he would, but I doubt it.

He did it for the same reason Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and BTK killed: PLEASURE.

  2. Carol Batten says:

It’s such a bitter disappointment to watch man destroy our wildlife.
