Target: The People of Ireland
Goal: Encourage the people of Ireland to vote yes for marriage equality.
On May 22, 2015, Ireland will allow its citizens to vote for or against gay marriage in their country. Let’s raise our voices and encourage the people of Ireland to make the right decision and vote for the legalization of same-sex marriage.
As the U.S. makes its own strides toward marriage equality, the international community continues growing and changing, and countries all over the world are making important decisions about how they will treat the LGBT communities in their respective nations. It is important that as we look to our own government, political leaders and citizens to fight for change that we do not forget that marriage equality is an international issue as well, spreading far beyond our shores.
The more countries that join the effort for marriage equality, the harder it will be for other nations to deny equality to all of its citizens. That is why it’s important for us to unify our voices and send a message to the people of Ireland to make the right decision and vote yes for same-sex marriage.
Sign this petition to let the people of Ireland know that you, a member of the international community, support marriage equality and that they should too.
Dear People of Ireland,
On May 22, 2015, you will have the opportunity to vote yes for marriage equality. As a member of the international community, I urge you to take this opportunity to propel your nation of Ireland toward the right side of human history and make same-sex marriage a reality. In a time when the entire world is talking about LGBT issues, you have a chance to do the right thing for the people of your country who are denied equal rights.
Vote yes, because every nation that creates equality for its LGBT population makes it that much harder for other nations to ignore these important issues.
Vote yes, because everyone in Ireland deserves the right to marry the person that they love, and to enjoy all the benefits in which that love has to offer in life.
Vote yes, because it is simply the right thing to do.
Many people who identify themselves with the LGBT community feel alienated from the world because of legalized discrimination. As a member of the international community, I urge you to follow the path of many other nations around the globe and move your country of Ireland toward marriage equality.
