Target: Robert Shillman, Founder and CEO of Cognex Corp
Goal: End alleged funding of prominent anti-Muslim activist.
Numerous Islamophobic websites and events are allegedly being funded by Robert Shillman, the millionaire CEO of an American technology company worth billions of dollars. This money is being used to spread hate and willful ignorance against an already-marginalized community. Demand that Shillman end his alleged funding of anti-Muslim activism at once.
According to reports, Shillman has a history of supporting anti-Muslim organizations. He is a director for the David Horowitz Freedom Center, a notoriously Islamophobic foundation whose mission is “to combat the efforts of the radical left and its Islamist allies to destroy American values.” His support for this center extends to reportedly funding journalists for its online news and political analysis front, FrontPage Magazine.
Shillman has also been extremely vocal in his support for the noted Islamophobe Pamela Geller, whose recent Prophet Mohammad drawing contest made headlines worldwide after two gunmen were killed in an apparent attack on the event. He even contributed to the “enlightened Western civilization vs. Eastern savagery” narrative Geller has been promoting in the event’s aftermath by saying the incident “was a terrorist attack on the American way of life.”
This man’s history of funding components of the David Horowitz Freedom Center combined with his vocal support for Pamela Geller has led many to believe that he has been funding her activities, including the recent drawing contest. Sign the petition below to demand that, if these allegations are true, Shillman stop funding Geller’s anti-Muslim activism immediately.
Dear Mr. Shillman,
I am writing you today regarding your alleged funding of Pamela Geller’s anti-Muslim activism. Geller is a rampant bigot with a very specific and very radical agenda, and her activities should not be given any additional resources.
You seem to be an admirer of Geller’s and have gone on record supporting her recent Prophet Mohammad drawing contest in Texas. Of course, perhaps this support should not be surprising, given your work with the David Horowitz Freedom Center. Your history of funding journalists at that organization’s FrontPage Magazine, as well as your own foundation’s funding of actively anti-Palestinian organizations, has led many to suspect you of also funding Geller’s work.
You have to concede, it is not an unreasonable suspicion. And while you are entirely within your rights to do so if you are, I would hope that Geller’s increasingly strange and alienating comments about herself and her mission against Muslims—including comparing herself to Rosa Parks and Malala Yousafzai—would have turned you away as of late.
Pamela Geller is nothing but a fearmonger and her activities do not deserve the legitimacy of your support. If the suspicions of your funding are true, I urge you to revoke all financial support for Geller’s activities at once.
