Alleged Dog Butcher Deserves No Mercy

Target: Rod Underhill, District Attorney for Multnomah County, Oregon

Goal: Prosecute alleged dog killer to the fullest extent of the law, and ensure that he can never be employed as a caregiver.

“I killed the dog in the cruelest way possible, and I kind of liked it,” Abel Nisor reportedly told his relatives after brutally murdering Leo, the family Rottweiler. He had threatened to kill the dog after his family retrieved Leo from the animal shelter where Nisor abandoned him, complaining that Leo’s barking kept him up at night. Although his family tried to stop him, Nisor took the dog out into the woods near his home in Portland, Oregon and allegedly used a hammer, knife and shovel to end the poor creature’s life. He showed no remorse, confident he’d gotten away with the horrific crime, and even laughed about it while in police custody.

According to the Oregonian Nisor has no prior convictions; nonetheless he deserves no leniency due to the premeditation and brutality of his crime. He also claims to work as a caregiver. Clearly someone this heartless and violent should never be allowed to work with elders, children, or animals. Research suggests that people who go on to commit violent crimes against humans often get their start abusing innocent animals.

Nisor admits he killed Leo, and with intent to cause as much suffering as possible. His lack of remorse suggests psychopathic behavior and that he could be a danger to other animals, and humans, in the future. Call on the district attorney to ensure this man is locked behind bars, prevented from working as a caregiver, and unable to harm anyone else in the likely event that he is found guilty.

Dear District Attorney Underhill,

Animal cruelty is never justified. In some cases the depravity of the crime demands that the abuser receive the harshest possible punishment, even if the person has no prior criminal record. The way Abel Nisor butchered his family’s dog was just such a crime: admitting to using a shovel, knife and hammer to end the Rottweiler’s life. His actions were clearly premeditated and he has shown no remorse, even refusing to cooperate with authorities and reveal where he buried the animal.

It disturbs me greatly that this man claims to work as a “caregiver,” and that he so openly enjoyed causing a living thing such terrible pain. I urge you to make sure he is behind bars for as long as the law allows, forced to undergo counseling, and barred from ever working as a caregiver. Nisor is a clear danger to society, and must not be allowed to hurt others–human or not.

Sometimes (rather every time I read petitions like that), I want to do the same things to people who act like Nisor. Does this make me to a bad person? Maybe, but that’s ok, I think that here and then, the world has come to a point where humanity doesn’t exist.

  3. Sharon Hopkins says:

What a vile and cruel monster to deliberately murder poor Leo and then laugh about it. This man is an evil psychopath. Rottweilers are huge dogs so poor sweet Leo would have suffered prolonged agony at the hands of Nisor. He should be locked up immediately and never released. Words are inadequate to describe this thug.
