Target: New York District Attorney’s Office
Demand: Man accused of murdered police officer must be prosecuted.
An officer in New York City was recently shot in the face after questioning a man in Queens. After several days fighting for his life, the officer, 25-year-old Brian Moore, died of his injuries. The man who allegedly shot him, Demetrius Blackwell, has been charged with attempted murder, but the District Attorney in Queens said that he’ll go before a grand jury to increase the charges to murder.
Amidst the tension between police officers and citizens after protests in Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore Maryland, this crime must not go unpunished. If Demetrius Blackwell is found guilty he must be given the maximum penalty to show that violence against officers will not be taken lightly.
Dear District Attorney,
NYPD officer Brian Moore, who was 25 years old, has lost the battle for his life after being shot by a man in Queens. Although many have focused lately on violence committed by police officers toward citizens, violence toward police is just as heinous. This crime must not go unpunished.
We the undersigned urge you to hand over the maximum penalty if Demetrius Blackwell is found guilty of murdering Officer Moore.
