Target: Richard A. Brown, District Attorney of Queens
Goal: Prosecute nurse accused of murdering an infant girl by submerging her in scalding water.
A newly hired licensed practical nurse was charged with murdering a 23-month-old girl in Queens, New York. The nurse was hired to care for this girl, and under her care, she was admitted into the hospital with approximately 50 percent of her body covered in burns after submergence in scalding water.
Naomi Mondesire was born prematurely, and was severely developmentally disabled. She was a happy and active little girl, but due to her condition, required the care of a nurse. Naomi’s grandmother says that nurse Oluyemisi Adebayo was only on the job for two days when she allegedly prepared the scalding hot bath that later killed the toddler. Naomi was taken to the hospital with severe burns throughout her body, but despite intensive surgical efforts, she passed away. Preliminary autopsy reports indicate that Naomi died from complications of thermal injury, which point to submergence in scalding water.
No family member should have to experience burying their previously healthy baby. Please sign the petition below to call for a heavy sentence for the nurse who allegedly is responsible for the events leading up to Naomi’s death, if found guilty. Naomi and her family deserve justice for this heinous murder.
Dear Richard A. Brown,
Numerous children are susceptible to abuse and neglect by their caretakers every year, and sometimes these unfortunate instances may even lead to murder. Nevertheless, the murder of 23-month-old Naomi Mondesire comes as quite a shock. Naomi was a completely healthy and thriving infant, aside from the need for a nurse due to being severely developmentally disabled. Naomi’s family trusted nurse Oluyemisi Adebayo when they hired her to take care of Naomi, but this trust was apparently in vain. Naomi suffered a violent and cruel death at such a young age, allegedly at the hands of Adebayo.
Please ensure that nurse Oluyemisi Adebayo is prosecuted for this heinous murder that she is alleged to have committed. Ms. Adebayo had the helpless infant’s life in her hands. Naomi and her family deserve justice for this atrocity.
