Target: President Barack Obama
Demand: Send aide to Nepal to assist in earthquake rescue work.
After a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal officials are working around the clock to help those who have been affected. Authorities have said that the new death toll has reached over 5,000 and over 10,000 people have been injured.
Relief has been hindered by more bad weather. As if the earthquake wasn’t bad enough, those who have been sleeping outside because their homes were destroyed are now threatened by rain and potential landslides. Because of the weather, helicopters have been unable to deliver vital aid to those who are suffering and field hospitals have been able to treat fewer patients.
Many people are cut off from their own villages because the broken land won’t allow them to travel. Therefore, they have no idea if their family is alive or if their homes have been destroyed.
Dear President Obama,
The recent earthquake in Nepal has been devastating to say the least. Over 5,000 people have died and 10,000 have been injured. Relief workers barely have enough supplies and people are cut off from their own villages, not knowing if their families have survived or if their homes are still standing.
Poor weather has made the rescue efforts even more difficult, as helicopters have been prevented from dropping off needed supplies.
We the undersigned urge you to send relief workers and supplies to Nepal to assist in rescue efforts.
