Target: Governor of California, Jerry Brown
Goal: Praise Governor Jerry Brown for taking drastic measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The state of California has been scrambling to cope with its historic drought, forcing the state to enact tough measures to save water. California has also created legislation meant to curb greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change. As someone who firmly believes that climate change is affecting the entire world, Governor Jerry Brown has upped the ante by mandating that companies and consumers reduce emissions by 40 percent over 1990 levels by 2030, a drastic change from the 80 percent he required by 2050. The governor is getting serious about saving the planet, and for this Jerry Brown should be praised for taking the subject seriously.
Governor Jerry Brown has come to this drastic announcement because he wants companies to make decisions that would benefit the future and lower the state’s carbon footprint. He wants regulations to be meant for the well-being of the planet, along with its creatures. California already has some of the strictest greenhouse gas emission regulations in the nation, thanks to its predecessor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Despite having a tough goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, officials believe that California might actually surpass it. Hopefully the state will be able to meet the governor’s new demand.
Brown has urged residents to do whatever they can to reduce their carbon footprint and cut back on water use. California residents have suffered immensely through the state’s drought, and many believe it is because of climate change. The governor fortunately believes in the existence of climate change and is creating goals and regulations to protect the state. Applaud Governor Jerry Brown’s actions by signing this petition.
Dear Governor Jerry Brown,
I am writing this letter to applaud you for your work. You have risen up to the challenges that California faces in regards to the environment. California has suffered a historic drought and you are handling the problem in a competent manner. You are also taking steps to ensure that this incident does not happen again in the future by requiring companies and consumers to cut down on their greenhouse gas emissions. This is highly responsible of you, and I cannot express my gratitude enough.
It angers me that there are politicians who do not believe that climate change even exists. President Barack Obama himself is getting frustrated by the denial, and is urging everyone to be on the same page. I hope that the measures you enact will be enough to save the state from disaster. Only time will tell if humans will be able to correct the problem of climate change. In the meantime I want to thank you for the work you’ve done for the state, and I hope you will continue to make wise decisions.
