Target: Senator Rand Paul
Demand: Do your duty and go to assigned committee meetings.
Sources have reported recently that Rand Paul, Republican Senator from Kentucky who announced his bid for President last week, has been skipping meetings of committees he is assigned to in order to make TV appearances and go to fundraisers.
Sources report that attendance records indicate he was only in attendance at 15 out of 94 Foreign Relations Committee meetings since last year. His attendance record at Homeland Security Committee meetings isn’t much better. Sources say he’s only attended 5 out of 73 since the beginning of 2014.
Although he can’t seem to make time for the meetings, he has plenty of time to make television appearances. For example, in one month he skipped a hearing on fishery treaties and a hearing on nominations of four ambassadors, and appeared on tv later on each day to discuss his lawsuit with the NRA. This is unacceptable.
Dear Senator Paul,
Your duties as United States Senator from Kentucky are important and should not be ignored. Recent reports indicate that you have only been in attendance at 15 out of 94 Foreign Relations Committee meetings and 5 out of 73 Homeland Security Committee meetings since last year.
This attendance record is deplorable, especially since you’ve made time to make television appearances on many of the same days on which these meetings occurred.
We encourage you to attend the meeting you’re supposed to attend.
