Target: Hillary Clinton, 2016 Presidential Candidate
Goal: Praise Hillary Clinton for being a warrior for the LGBT community.
Hillary Clinton announced her presidential candidacy with a heartwarming video titled “Getting Started.” This video addresses numerous problems facing the average citizen in the United States. Clinton, instead of just speaking about these problems herself, has real people speak to the viewers directly. Among those discussing their current issues or necessities, a homosexual couple expresses their desire to be married. This speaks not only to Clinton’s Character, but also speaks to the changing tide of the population’s feelings towards homosexuality in totality. She stated, “To deny the opportunity to any of our daughters or sons, solely on the basis of who they are and who they love, is to deny them the chance to live up to their own God-given potential.”
In 2013, Hillary Clinton gave an impassioned yet logical speech on the importance of gay rights. The foundation of her speech was: gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights. They are intertwined and we all need to understand that as human beings. Part of Hillary’s platform during her 2016 presidential bid, without a doubt, will be LGBT rights and their significant importance to our society. The time has come for presidential candidates to be open and honest about the immeasurable value of human rights. We CAN ameliorate homophobia.

Dear Hillary Clinton,
I would like to thank you for successfully spreading the message that gay rights and human rights are one and the same. Although the general feeling on the LGBT community is trending in the right direction, it is important to have a strong political voice fighting for equal rights. Having a previous secretary of state and presidential candidate on the side of humanity is paramount. Hopefully the citizens of the United States and politicians will listen and follow suit in your human rights campaign.
Some democratic candidates, even now, still voice their disapproval of LGBT rights. Your strong candidacy will surely have them take notice that this is no longer acceptable to be bigoted and we will not stand for it as a society. I support you and your platform and hope you continue to be such a powerful voice for all people.
Thank you Hillary Clinton.
